Did I hear you say you had another busy year and didn’t have time to visit me ….were you too tired….too busy to stop by and say hello as you drove past my house….was the time not right…did I hear you say you were going on another vacation….do I still live too far away….are you working too much now….did I hear you say you are going to your destination and can’t stop by on the way….did I really hear you say you don’t have time for me in your life….was it too inconvenient for you to come see me….too uncomfortable….too much of a time waster….did you know….I heard what you said….but….my heart didn’t listen….did you know I always loved you, and that I still do….did you know I tried again and again….and then again….and then I tried
“just once more”….did you know I will never give up….I stopped expecting…. and I even quit asking….but my heart doesn’t know how to give up….”just once more”….I will wait….and hope. Waiting….days turn into years and my life is long behind me….my sunsets are few….my heart will not listen while I wait…
I know you are not coming. My heart doesn’t know….I hear the echos of a hopeful heart still waiting….I walk alone. I wait alone…..”just once more”….and I wonder….will you ever know…I gave you the best I had to give….the best in me….I walk slowly out into the light and warmth of the new day and I feel my spirit smile, hopeful ….just once more….
