Echoes of Me

I see from over here
I feel the pain and tension
You do not want me near
Despite my intention

I’m adding to your burden
My goal is subtraction
But dividing your hurting
Multiplies the fraction

Is there anything to say
I repeat and rephrase
A thousand different ways
At the end of the day
I’ve pushed you away

And so I pray
I pray for you
I pray for me too
I pray for strength
To see us both through

Silence surrounds
A ghastly sound
You pled for absence
But my echoes abound
