Echoes of a migrant bird

Oh my dear migrant birdie, Have you crossed the hills so sturdy? Tell me, what have you studied Of all those migrant paths so hardy? Hey, my dear buddy, While crossing those mountains mighty, We get tired and sweaty, Yet we never stop our flight. Oh my dear traveler bird, Have you crossed the oceans wide? Don’t you fear the towering tides? Tell me more about the ride. Yes, my dear cutie, the ride was very creepy. My vision blurred in the midst. I cried and tried, but my flock got missed. Before nearing the shore, there were too many twists. Oh my dear whirling beauty, Having crossed countries thirty, What scent has stayed within your mind? What would you wish to smell again? Hey, my dear dreaming dude, there are umpteen scents that delight, But one still lingers in my brain, and one I never wish to smell again, It's the scent of blood from the fallen in war’s cruel fight. Oh my dear migrant birds, I love how you are whirling the world, Upon hearing the catastrophes of many worlds, Which is your favorite word? Oh my dear favorite girl, We whirl and twirl and curl, Of all the words we hear and call, I can say peace is the dearest of all.

Poignant dialogue between a girl and a bird that explores themes of resilience, the scars of conflict, and the universal longing for peace. So well written.

Hmmm was this a collaboration? The bolded verses seem to be a very different person. So interesting if you did all of it because you pulled off really well making it look like from two different personalities. Very sweet poem, by the way

Ha ha… it’s not exactly a collaboration, but if anything, it feels like a quiet one between a bird and a girl....So glad you liked the poem.... Thank you so much for visiting and sharing your wonderful thoughts...

This is a wonderful poem. Birds are fantastic. The bravest of animals is the bird. I like how your poem honors them. I enjoyed the story and rhyme.

Beautifully expressed from the perspective of a migrant bird journeying around the world. The lines are truly profound: "It's the scent of blood from the fallen in war’s cruel fight." And indeed, "Peace is the dearest of all." I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

I love the refrain and the soul warming nature of your poem here, so beautiful and creative and has a lyrical touch to it which is so very poetic! I love especially the lines "Oh my dear whirling beauty, Having crossed thirty countries, What scent has stayed within your mind? What would you wish to smell again?" Something now I would question too: so engaging! And has an innocence to it which i adore. Pleasure reading you today. Sending you light always
