Echoes in the Expanse

Out of the Universe's
innumerable starry throng
by chance we meet
not for long

One day from me you will vanish
or I from you,
although we don't wish
dissolved in time's unyielding beat,
never to be together
nor again meet.

Except you live in mind,
and I linger in yours,
till forever you and I wane
into the immeasurable expanse.

In this vast crowd
I clasp your hand, lest
I should lose you in the bustling fuss.

A lovely picture of echoes in expansiveness, Akham. I liked how you depicted chance, change and disappearance as part of human relationships & then ending with the concrete & back to feelings of loss in the final stanza. This is a clever way to illustrate the deeper fears of human loss. Your title is a good one too. Well done. ThkU for sharing., Ghairo
