Echoes

Echoes
By Kevin Robey
January 6, 2014

If there was a time that I realized what I hide
It’s the day that they saw the fire behind my eyes
If there was someone in whom I'll never confide
Anyone anywhere while I reside in these lies

So scared of the sunshine in places they love
I’m safer down here where the shadows are bright
It’s not scary when echoes fit like a glove
Call out for everyone and no one at night

Don’t think I’m giving up, my faith isn’t used
I’ll just dig through hell to rise above it all
Two black eyes new I’m broken and freshly bruised
Still searching the dark for my own wonder wall

I see why you're scared, guess now that we know
What I meant back then, when I couldn’t fight
Revealed much more than words could ever show
Saw these bright lights in the darkest of nights

You won’t see me hide my insecurities
Expect nothing less cause my fears live out loud
With every degree of my abilities
I’ll give you the answers up high from the clouds

These words are like glass it happened so fast
I started these thoughts now leaking with love
The family tree from ashes of the past
Means something more, what I was dreaming of
