Ebt Blues

I saw the sign said
"20 items or less"
So I jump in it ready
to get out of this mess.

When the couple in
front tries to pay
with cash.
They get a
lesson on how
debit is fast.

Then comes the lady
next in line, with a
cart full of junk food
and a little kid crying.

She unloads the cart
while texting someone
There goes Item 30 then 31.

"Was that my daddy"
Mom says yes,
"He's trying to
explain why I aint
got my check"

The girl says I love
him with all of my
heart. Mom says
"Whatever" as she
unloads the cart.

I stopped count at
33 and heard the cashier ask
what form of
payment will it be?

The lady says
nothing,bags her last frozen pizza.
"And I say to myself
what a wierd
looking visa"?

She then swiped it
twice and typed in a number
"And said is it the first?
I can never remember".

I'd been waiting so
long my family was lonely
Whole lot of trouble for
 milk and baloney.

Maybe this store should
consider more people like me,
And dedicate a line to just EBT?
