Eat By the Rules

Matzo pasta does not have noodles Kosher for Passover has rules by the oodles Even your collie or poodle has to abide by these rudles And eat leaven-free treats --- not exactly apple strudel At first it's not bad, I mean life without bread After four or five days, though, you're out of your head It's not just bread, after all, it's pizza and crackers and beer What you wouldn't give for a cookie, just a bite, just a smear So now we're all counting the days: four, three, two, one We just cannot wait until all these restrictions are gone And we get back to normal...order a pizza dripping with cheese Just hold the sausage, of course; that's not kosher either, please

Aw, thanks so much. 'Rudles' was a bit serendipity, no? :) gw

HI Gershon - loved your poem! Greek Easter was and still is this weekend. We fasted only for a week (Not too strictly), whereas others fast for 40 days, but from tomorrow can eat protein again. The Greeks go according to the Lunar Calendar. I think the right thing to say "wish you well over your fast" Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

Thanks for the good wishes, and they worked. The Passover has passed now, about 75 minutes ago. :) gw

A funny musing. Along the same lines you should look up the song and its lyrics for “So You Wanna Go Back To Egypt” by Keith Green. Oh no...not Manna again! Soup mail me and let me know how you liked :) Kim

Oh, are you ever right! Jubilant is an understatement. Drop down to Jan Allison's comment, and you'll see that I'm not the only one who chafes at the restrictions. Thanks for the encouragement. ~ gw

Are you hungry, Gershon? I guess I probably should not put up any Epulaeryu poetry today...at least not until you're able to enjoy pizza and other goodies again. You do have a powerful constitution, to resist it all, though..hang in there, buddy!

My constitution is rather weak, actually. It's just the dread of the alternative---extinction of the eternal soul---which keeps me going. (And the eight-day Passover ended here in Chicago about an hour ago. So, I managed to hang in there one more time). :) gw

I done did dood it, David. Passover ended about an hour ago, and a few minutes ago the restrictions were all lifted. No matter how many years I've observed it, it's never that easy, surprisingly. Thanks for your encouragement! :) gw

sure made me smile Gershon as i enjoyed the rituals and food over passover when I worked as a private nanny but after a while I craved anything other than stewed apple and matzohs at breakfast and if I wanted sausage or bacon it was only when I had a weekend off and could go home lol:-) hugs Jan xx
