We only kill to save our skin From the cross Too much blood flows For one repentance One unconformed to lash of tongue Or bickering bruises of bricks Shall I state my preference Though whichever way I pay the price Justice deferred is not nice I drink no gall To dim the diminishless pain of the fall Let me content alone In the shining promise pledged by the throne Of cross lifted Drawing my will changed and sifted.
