A rabbit jumped out of a colorful basket.
I asked it,
I just want a moment of your time; for it I’ll share a carrot.
Who hath ever heard of a rabbit laying eggs like a parrot?
Out of habit you jumped out of your basket leaving your colored eggs behind.
I thought I would follow and gather as many as I can find.
The Sunday school teacher said,
"Today is a day we honor when Jesus rose from the dead."
There is no mention of a long-eared, cotton-tailed creature
known as the Easter Bunny featured.
Neither children hunting colorful painted eggs and basket full of goodies.
At the corner of the yard stands a decorated table full of cakes and cookies.
Spring!
Flowering Spring,
of new life and rebirth as the trees and flowers bring forth
breathtaking flowering buds showing their worth.
Little children take chase gathering Easter eggs; while yellow peep chicks tag
and floppy-eared, cotton tail bunny’s zigzag.
