Premiere Contest WinnerEaster 2018

I don't get to church on Easter.
I'm so sorry that it is true.
I make the big Easter dinner
With my guests more than quite a few.

The egg hunt is in the morning
When children's energy is high.
I keep one eye on the egg hunt
And one eye on the baking pie.

When all the eggs are found, it is
Time to cook the twenty-pound ham.
If the children cry they're hungry,
I bring out the bread and grape jam.

Twenty-six guests at my table
This Easter of twenty-eighteen,
This is lots but it's not the most
That my Easter table has seen.

This was my ninety-ninth Easter.
In July, my one-hundredth year.
We are throwing a big party,
I am hoping you'll all appear.

It is so wonderful to see this delight on the top of the winner's list! I am so honored, dear Joyce, to have you among my poet friends, and from the start you have inspired many of us to write, and share kindness as well as poetry! God Bless, and may your upcoming birthday be the biggest party Washington state has ever seen! :)

A lovely, delightful Easter poem, Joyce, highlighting so many cherished memories with family & friends, so many gathered. My Mom had 10 children. At holidays with all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in laws, it was common to have 30 or more gathered. Congrats on your win! Have a spectacular birthday! God bless. :) Love, Artsie

So happy to see this delightful poem at the top of the winners' list, Joyce! Congratulations, my friend. I don't know how you managed to prepare a dinner for 26, but I'm sure there will be even more at your birthday party. I'm so looking forward to that! It was wonderful to speak to you last night. To me, you are family. Love, carolyn

A big congratulations on your 1st place win !!Hello Joyce, the eggs are taped out from the top with a butter knife about the size of a Quarter, empty the egg , then wash and let dry... when all are saved you color them or paint ( I love to paint all sorts of images on them ) then fill with confetti and or money.... It entices all to hunt and break the egg shells on each other’s head.. Blessings with Happy birthday coming Hugs Eve

A lovely Easter poem, Joyce. I'm sure it is not an easy job preparing a meal for 26 guests, while keeping an eye on the young ones! ~ Wow! a hundred years...what an achievement...now I'm tempted to gate crash that special party:) Warm regards // paul
