As doubts wrestle within my heart,
my path is suddenly unclear.
For barraged by lies and deceit,
I'm left on the verge of a tear.
An alternate reality
concealed what I refused to see.
For I was infatuated
with the girl who claimed to love me.
Separate and yet connected,
I was easily led astray.
And we shared intimate moments,
till betrayal took them away.
A clash of rival emotions
fuels both desire and fury.
And in judgment of these feelings,
truth presides as judge and jury.
Delusion morphs into despair,
triggering thoughts of suicide.
But I refuse to take that road
and quickly push those thoughts aside.
Despite her manipulation,
I'll miss her charisma and charm.
And yet, I choose to walk away
and not ignore my heart's alarm.
