Early Spring

When early Spring gives weary Winter a shove
Rash is he who dons garden gloves

The bracing scent of tulip's first bloom
Oft buried 'neath wake of blizzard's doom

After the Great Ice Storm of Portland 2021, we are having a rash of blooms out here, just hoping they can stay around and there's no Round Two :)

Oh, from your pen to the Weatherman's forecast, Michelle. I cringe at even the thought of a 'Round Two' here in Chicago, and Monday - Wednesday, it will be mid - 60's here. Think positive, gw

It takes oodles of faith to be a farmer! Aloha! Rico

Very prescient comment, my friend. I would still be a farmer if I had had enough faith when I was in my 20's. Those I know who get 'over the hump' and stay on the farm are bedrocks of faith, be they Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists or Agnostics. You are so, so right. Faith and Strength, Gershon

Weather is so fickle, Gershon. Here we are in March and it was in the 40s here last night. Cool today as well. I am resisting buying bedding plants for at least a couple more weeks. I guess tulips often emerge a bit too early, but they're beautiful flowers. Enjoyed, Gershon! Hugs, Carolyn

Tulips are certainly beautiful... It's amazing that now we can buy them in Chicago in January and February, thanks to the shipping capabilities in South America and Holland. Smiles, Gershon

Let's hope that the tulips weather the storm this year. Ours are already peeking out, days after a brutal February this year. Hold on tight! Peace, Gershon
