Early Morning Song

Dawn broke early one late fall morning A male cardinal bird came a calling His chirps were so loud and excitable His color was a blaze of fire I could’t help but admire He moved quickly from limb to limb Where contuied to sing that sad hymn I know he was longing for his mate At that time I began to relate His heart was unsettled While he looked through the trees so thickly settled The mate he loved had gone away Making that his worse day Bird’s mate for life He could never take on a new wife It’s a sad song we all sing at one time But to watch him so furiously had to be unkind Nature has its way of healing pain So mourning, even for a bird is not in vain
