Early Fall Frost
Over roof and eaves
peering first among the leaves
autumnal sun.
Early frost and dew
for the moment glistening
autumnal sun.
Day breaks warmly at
a new season's dawn
red leaves.
Porch-set with cup in hand
craving crossword at hand
steaming coffee.
Wondering why time seems
to pause, and wait for
us to savour.
