Each Day With You
EACH DAY WITH YOU
It’s a small gift from my wife to celebrate our years together
Reflecting our lifespan shared, in good or stormy weather:
Not expensive, but who sees these things in terms of money?
Bright, like our love, after all these years, like drips of honey.
Untarnished, as her eyes and radiant smile -
Beaming at me in the light of the waking sun, while
At night smiling at me as I slip to dreams -
Like the beat of my beloved’s heart, it seems
That our happy lives are always taken stock
By the ticking of my alarm clock.
