Dust From Life
The dust from life clings to me as I move,
To find peace with memories in the shade,
And remember years I had something to prove.
My bones now fragile and I'm unafraid,
As all my days through life have been measured,
And all my wanton dreams vanquished or made.
Scenic roads taken often were treasured,
There were loves in my life I wished had stayed.
Time becomes fleeting and I am now old,
And can see the final hourglass grains fall.
They land on my grave in darkness so cold.
Buried inside my mind, I hear death call.
For where is it written, anyone will stay?
Tomorrow is naught if I die today.
