Dunes

Our feet sank in the sand as we
Went walking through the dunes.
I haven't hiked on land like that
In many many moons.

Then suddenly we turned a bend
And there within our reach
Was something most surprising -
An amazing empty beach!

The waves were gentle and the water
Froze the few brave waders.
Remoteness kept it free of
Hordes of tourist-type invaders.

While heading back (reluctantly)
I found my souvenir -
Some tiny brightly-circled shells,
To keep the magic near.

Love this one also, some of our beaches over here to get to them we have to climb over sand dunes, bit of a pain because as you say your feet just sink and it really makes it hard, it was okay when I was young, but we don't like the beach much these days, if we want to go swimming our boys both have a large pool each, it is an excuse for visiting them. take care.....Vera

And our poetic vacation continues. I am loving these holiday inspired poems my friend. They are like post cards from you. This was fun and wonderful.

I haven't been to a beach in years, but I still have a little collection of shells I've treasured since I was a child. Thanks for a nostalgic visit to the shore, Ilene.

I have shells that I have collected that immediately transport me back to the beach they were found. Your poem did the same Ilene.

A little treasure keepsake to remember as this poem will help you to. It is simply wonderful to have the beach to yourself. Believe it or not there are places here in Hawaii that are secluded enough for you to find yourself alone. I enjoyed this little gem Ilene. : )
