No pity, please
  for the oft-maligned onion

They say if you put a spoon in your mouth while chopping onions suppose to stop the tears, seen people do it on tv but not seen it work once, did make me smile though lol, Emilia : )

Ha, ha! I chew gum, which usually dramatically diminishes the onion's strength... usually... :) gw

When my mom cuts onions in the kitchen I once cried in the dining room! Lol! Great poem!

Shed no more tears. There's now an 'onion-less onion' on the market. Tastes like the real thing... ha, ha. ~ Just dreaming. ~ gw

I don't even like the taste of onions, let alone chopping them up, so I stay away from them in general...
