Drunken Winter
She sits slowly sipping
her glass of wine
Is this number four or five?
She’s lost track
of everything,
except
the snow blanketing the ground outside
Three inches easily covering the yard
As she stares out the window,
memories of him
flow through her mind
Firelight reflecting across
the glass of the picture frame
Their wedding day
Vowing to be together
...forever
That’s a lie she thinks
Tears falling down
Salt water
landing next to her thumb
The fire crackles interrupting her thoughts,
bringing her back to the present
