I used to have an 8th grade history teacher who droned on and on in a monotone voice; and I had his class last hour Torture staying awake. Thanks for the memory.

Had some of those myself. When I was teaching, I always tried to have some physical activity or a craft in the mid-afternoon. That helped.

Back in the day, TV commercials were limited to 3-minutes per half-hour, whereas now a 30-minute newscast has 17-18 minutes of advertisements, substantially reducing the attention span of students, so teachers need to freshen up more than their notes! Well caught, Milton!

Humorous, Milton, that's something I often encounter during afternoon philosophy courses. How nice it was to remember those fondly imagined fantasies when I was a kid. That was really kind of you.
