Drowning

My body is weak
The freezing water numbs me
I know there’s barely minutes left

I am tossed and turned by the rough waters
The storm overhead is terrifying
I know I will not survive

I am barely able to keep afloat
Each wave pulls me under
I swallow water

I come up gasping for air
Only to be pulled back under
I am drained of everything I have

I don’t have the will to fight back
I have nothing left
On the inside I am dead already

I can no longer move my body, my heart beat slows
I surrender
And I swallow water

My lungs fill with water
As I sink
Sink, to the ocean floor
