Ah, my teenage years!
              Unforgettable
      The fun driving lessons
         In the summertime,
           many moons ago
 with my dearly departed father
                  lingering,
                  precious,
   magnolia-scented memories
        Perennially haunting
       and tantalizingly close
                  to recall
          I fondly remember
         my father's patience
               through it all
              Riding shotgun,
                 helping me
              steer the wheel
        with a steady left hand

"Easy now, son...easy on the gas pedal..."
"Return the steering wheel after every turn..."

              Oh, I remember
those calm, silken words of his
                  all too well
              Memories worth
              more than gold;
               too expensive
                to be bought

When yesterday was just 20 years ago, my Dad made his transition. Now missing him is a piece of the whole me so you got me & good Dad-tears. I've come to know that, for me, Dad tears never fully dry. With each word he was HERE w/ me. I thank you for such an awesome blessing. Know this poem did that - you did that, gave me time with Dad. Thank you. Poetry hugs ... CayCay (while box-validating, spirit nudged me to share "My Father, My Dad" with you. Wrote itself within 36 hrs after he passed.)
