Driving Lesson

Remember to look over your shoulder
Before moving to the left lane to pass
And if nothing is coming, move over quickly
After signaling and press on the gas!

After this maneuver move to the right,
And maintain your speed up, don’t slow
Or, the one you passed will eagerly fight
                                       For fast-slow-fast-slow, simply doesn’t go!

Good driving manners are appreciated out on the road,
So, move along like a jackrabbit, don’t drive like a toad!

Are you available to help one of my sons speed it up a little? Maybe he'll listen to you. Good one! ~ On the Road Again, Willie Nelson

Does he not wonder why other drivers are passing him and giving him the finger? ~~

I have said 'Thank you Al Crocker" about two thousand times since he taught me to drive in driver's ed class. If we tried to only use our mirrors he would twist our heads around. We did not believe him about "blind spots" but now I do! And I thank him every time! This poem reminded me of this.

Thanks. Yes, it is absolutely foolish to rely completely on rearview mirrors, particularly the side ones. We need to put eyes on them before we change lanes!

LOL! I would agree~lots of dangerous drivers on the roads~their attitude is they don't have to be accountable, it's the other guys problem. I almost got killed last month when a tractor trailer decided to move into my lane without warning, I was in the fast lane, doing 80 miles an hour, thankfully I had the presence of mind to squeeze onto a small patch of shoulder just before his tail end would have crushed us. Frightening! :) Paulette

You were probably in his blind spot, and he had not bothered to make sure before coming out into the fast lane. It is really frightening! So glad you held it together and knew how to respond.

I think as much of a pain in the butt it is, to go through getting a license to drive, I think everyone needs to take an annual driving test these days. Too many toads on the roads!

You've got a real point there, Charlie. Sometimes I think some people bought their license at a grocery store or something, because they sure can't drive!
