Drink Up Hummingbird

Hummingbird come sit upon my feeder
Drink your fill of red nectar made by man
Flowers come and go - this comes from Walmart
Take your time to drink as much as you can

They say you are flying to Mexico
That is farther than I have ever been
I'll do my part to help along the way
Enjoy yourself with these meals made by men

Maybe I will see you come next Winter
You can tell me then all about your trip
Did you find yourself a humming lady
Did you cheat and sit down upon a ship

I see you're getting restless to depart
I know you've got a long, long way to go
Bon voyage as they say in the city
If you make it, drop me a line or so

Larry, I love hummingbirds and I love the wonderful spirit of your poem. I keep my hummie feeders filled all spring and summer till they depart in mid September. I hate to see them leave. I wish them safe travels, as well, and wait for their return. Such a beautiful poem. Congratulations for your fine win in Constance's contest.. ~Susan
