Drifting

Memories, shifting like the moonlight
Fading even though I hold on tight
Feeling myself floating upon a cloud
Wind blowing loud
Dreams that one day may do me proud
Thoughts racing past the stars
Uncovering my scars
For all to see
That's how peace finds me
Dark times alone
A child already grown
Old man who are you
How many dreams have came true
To many dreams lost along the way
Some dreams change from day to day
A price you pay
To dare to dream
It would seem
Yesterday slides past
So fast
No time to follow
Or to wallow
In self pity
Or are you being witty
thoughts are so loud
Floating upon this cloud
Day light
Night
So fast the world turns
As the past burns
Hoping for something better
Than empty words in a letter
Takes strength to walk the next mile
To keep a smile
Can't be locked in the past
While tomorrow passes by
 so fast
My head in the cloud
My mind ringing loud
I can stand proud
Cause I did my best
Throughout all of life's little test
