Drift Away

Have you ever closed your eyes and find yourself drifting away?
Not really knowing where you are going but knowing all is okay.
Well the older I get seems the more I relish the chance,
To just drift away and dance and dance.

To my own little world where I play the lead,
No matter what I attempt I always succeed.
Not one cross word is uttered while I’m visiting here,
This place is like heaven so crystal clear.

If you were to paint a picture that’s filled with joy,
This would be the setting I’d choose to employ.
Whatever I choose it comes into play,
No I’m not eating my crayolas and yes I am okay.

I wish these people would just leave me alone,
At least they should bow down when I sit upon my throne.
I should get up and leave but I’ve lost my key,
And even when I do they always seem to find me.

Ah, how we relish those moments of peace. Drifting away is like mini vacation. I can so relate to this. Enjoyed this - and good luck! : ) Love, Shar
