Dreary Dark Days Contest Collaboration Celebration
Dark days end slowly before the light,
And shield a heart from love's flame, once warm.
To live in darkness, an eternal fight,
And shiver in the cold silence of its storm.
As shadows surround, start to confine,
Time moves without notice or understanding.
Black becomes the color of the soul's design,
Dreary the emotions, now demanding.
How long, before the sun begins to rise?
To shine on heart's shadows, growing small.
To chase dark days, unmask their disguise.
Rip away this dark, dark, covering shawl.
Trapped in this world of which I'm concerned.
Passing in darkness, time ever slowing.
Lost in rooms dark, where I've always returned,
Until the depth of my despair stops growing.
Touching each wall, hoping to find light.
Once more pain, I can't stand, can't breathe.
Darkness dwells deep into a seamless night.
A wound, continuing to seep through, Depression seethe.
Unbearable, I can't eat, can't sleep.
Again, I question the sun, how long must I wait?
Drowning under my tears dark and steep,
Torture becomes solid, enclosing fate.
Dark days, lounge every moving vibe within.
Burning and grooming self-pity and doubt.
Darkness betrays, portraying to be kin.
The only one who knows me, in and out.
