Dreams, You Had Erased

Last night, while I lay sleeping,
Silently, by your side,
I had a dream that scared me
And made me wake and cry.

I dreamed there were no tomorrows.
With you. there was no past.
I hadn’t found that love, so sweet,
That would forever last.

My life, it seemed so upside-down.
It couldn’t have been my life.
I didn’t have the love of children.
I didn’t have you as my wife.

I lived a life of a single man,
Dating everyone, indeed.
But that didn’t make me happy,
It was never to be my need.

I knew I was missing a big part.
That part, I knew was you.
So I forced myself to wake up,
For I knew just what to do.

Just when my eyes had opened,
In the darkness, I saw your face.
I quickly put my arm around you.
All dreams, you had erased.
