Dreams Still Alive
It has taken too
long-
Still I’m a mile
back
But then - didn’t
see myself this far
It must mean I’m
heading somewhere
One step at a time
is all I’ll take-
For if I’m not
broken
It must mean I can
still build
One day at a time is
all I’ll live
For if I breathe
now-
It must mean I can
be who I should be
‘Giving up’, you
argue-
That all I have to
show for all these
years-
Are the wrinkles
visible on my face
You say you’re
almost quite sure-
My defense will soon
bow down
Giving you your long
awaited chance
But my dreams are
still alive
My heart still
enduring
My bones still
strong
And my mind still
going
If my will wasn’t
broken then-
It means it is only
stronger now
And it doesn’t
matter how many
wrinkles more form
How many years more
to beat that mile-
Life is a journey;
Where dreams and
success are
accomplished
Not through magic
wands but through
perseverance
So one day at a time
I will build
realities out of my
dreams
One step at a time
I will alight at my
destination
