Dreams of Reality
Dreams of Reality
They took her as she slept down by the river
she tried to scream, but couldn't make a sound
Awakened, she was speechless, horrified and numb
as they took her to their "sacred holy ground"
Examined, prodded, tested, like an animal unknown
They kept her, seemed like weeks or months or more
When morning came, asleep down by the river
She awoke to find her body bruised and sore
Visions of a faceless man, just starting now to surface
Though trying hard, she can't tell where he's from
The restless nights and fear, came shortly after
The nightmares she would have, were yet to come
No memory of the seed of life they planted
The months went by, she hung her head in shame
No husband to account, for what was growing deep inside her
She wondered if the others felt the same
Soon the time had come (she knew by instinct)
She made a nest of dried up leaves and hay
Her cries were heard that night, down by the river
That's when they came, and took her child away.....
