Dreams of Her On Lonely Nights
Dreams Of Her On Lonely Nights
My thoughts carried as in arrows swift flight
Each bad day, loneliness and misery;
More to come- dying sun gives wicked night,
long and sadder became desperate pleas.
Where once cherished fires burned brilliant glow,
Now treads shadow host of my vanities;
Lost heart stood aloof, cold as coldest snow
casting forth red-pain and profanities.
Not realized, plans of joy and future life
Nor again- moments of her sweet touch;
Yet held deepest, poems of our love, my wife
This world, I would give, to have again such.
In darkness, my soul in lost battle fights,
Images of her, in dreams on lonely nights.

Note--Old sonnet, real bad time in my young life ..
So often we are made strong-- by the depth of the fires that burned us so severely.......
