Dreaming

I dreamt of being on a cloud Dancing and laughing gaily out loud For I felt so very light and free Free of life's mediocrity In my dream I was deeply in love Not the kind that kids dream of But real and rich, well worth the fare Such a love is extremely rare I dreamt of circus's and of clowns Equated them to life's ups and downs For joy in life is sometimes fleeting Unpredictable in its next meeting I saw my childhood of ribbons and bows Ballet slippers with rose dipped toes Round and round my dream did swirl From old age to being an innocent girl Some was future, some was past The dream did a very long time last I saw what I wished would come to be Yet I saw what was, with great clarity For such is life, the source of dreams An escape, a wish, the in betweens To search, to hope, to see anew Wrapped inside a dreams yearning view I opened my eyes at very long last The dream now over, its spell well cast When I realized that all I had seen Didn't have to remain just a dream For we can all build castles in the sand Seek until we find the very right man Dance upon a billowy cloud at night Allow our spirit to soar and take flight Yes that is our gift set free Imagination and its wish to be We may not understand the world at best Our ability to enjoy our biggest quest
