Dreaming
Dreaming
Sitting in the midday sun beside a babbling brook
Feeling sleepy, I put down my favourite book.
My eyes began to close and I began breathing deep
Comfortable in the hot sunshine, I quickly fell asleep.
Falling asleep, I began to dream.
My dream was of happy things, not the ones that make you scream
I dreamt of bluebirds soaring high in the sky.
I also dreamt of white fluffy clouds slowly floating by.
I dreamt about love; there was no dream of hate.
Dreaming of the time I went partying and got drunk with my mate.
I dreamt of my children and my beautiful wife.
I dreamt of our wedding day and the start of married life.
Then I dreamt of my mam and also of my dad.
Dreaming of my family and the childhood that I had.
My eyes are open now, and I am no longer asleep.
I am smiling about my dream and the memories that I keep.
