Notes About The Poem

This is part fantasy part dim recollection. It's an episode that did happen I think.  The vocabulary used is that of an adult reflecting fondly on the past as I liked drawing as a child and still do.  The supportive teacher did exist.

Drawing on Childhood

A blossom faced urchin me ,
in a dream world as I sketch,
pink cloud smirk, blue vault swallow,

lakes, lagoons, rivers and streams,
a bold impish meander,
praise to the skies from teacher,
“You picture stuff well.”

- A lovely poem :) - Drawings from childhood are precious memories, Howard :) - They may bring a smile... but still a work of art from a child's hand and imagination :) - hugs

This lovely poem beautifully captures the innocence and imagination of childhood. The imagery is vivid, and the playful language brings the scene to life, allowing the reader to experience a child's creative delight. Excellent

Hello Howard, It's like a small window cracked open into the past, that soft blur where memory and imagination trade places without arguing over who owns what. I really like the way you let the child‑you wander, sketching the world as if it were still new enough to surprise you. Yes, those early moments of being seen can shape the whole arc of a life. Lovely work, truly. Blessings, Daniel
