Drain
Fluid words pour
yet my mouth is still dry
morning washed ashore hours ago
many moons have passed
i am still explaining away
my life, my sanity
now i wear you around my neck
all that is left of us
i cannot cut the rope
that binds us
but i can't pull you closer
i struggle with the words
dripping down my chin
without meaning
this is getting us nowhere
i breathe you in
with painful gasps
take you everywhere with me
you're seeping out my pores
slowly
i'll get my freedom
for j. 1997
