Dragon In the Shadows
Tall walls surround and impede far optical range
Nothing interesting to see
Rumors float around about real sightings
yet, often slander-filled they are
as mice end up caught in mouse traps
Continuing the search,
tall barriers no longer blind me
into the forest begins the quest of finding mythical life
Three miles in, looking at my nine
ten, three, two, and one,
all hope is lost
Walking in the direction of six
I turn back to head home, failing the mission
Among the shadows of the trees,
an eye opens
The face comes out to light,
flying up and roaring, hearing his sound
I turn to my former twelve,
and gaze upon mythical truth
The red scales, pointy eyes, and gigantic claws
No mistaking it,
they live in the shadows,
freely roaming the world
as I am stuck back at home,
wondering how to fly into the heavens
