Dragon Fly Meadows
Dragonfly meadows luxuriating in the sun
Listening to a rooster I start healing myself
Straw hat waits a few feet away ready for gardening
I am enjoying the breezes, not ready to start.
Windchime melody gently plays a simple chime tune
Dog prances around my lawn chair, cat is mysteriously gone.
Not far, probably sitting under a bush, waiting in wait
For an unsuspecting bunny, snake or mouse to venture by.
It is a gloriously beautiful summer day, seventy degrees perfect.
Tiny pink and red flowers are at my feet; if I look closely, purple too.
They are crowding each other softly, not sharing as well as they could
Like subway people who do not have a choice in Chicago.
Cardinals, blue jays and wrens fly around happily, seeing feeders replenished.
It was my first act of the day after feeding Shark the cat. Bumble bee is flying
closely to my right foot. Noticing me not at all as she enjoys the lamb’s ear.
My quietness has interested the cat. He makes a beeline for me, angering the dog.
Wild things do not have trouble sharing me.
The sun does not have trouble sharing me.
The wind does not have trouble sharing me,
but it makes the dog and cat go feral; both wanting me for themselves.
