Down the Drain

Drop by painless drop
Washed down the drain,
Flowing to a stop
Free from my brain

Hysteria and torment
With regret to follow,
Make their descent
Amongst fear and sorrow

There they all go
No need for them now,
Still learning to do so
Was never taught how

So deeply instilled
And clotting my veins,
Their intention fulfilled
Until I took the reins

To draw the old strife
Siphon all the negative,
Right out of my life
For a chance to live!

Kelly, I knew I was missing something, somehow. I thought it was the can opener. Nope, it was likely this poem. Happy holidays and best wishes in the New Year. -Richard

Thank you Silent One ... This is one of the most personal poems I have ever written, and it needed to be written for myself to truly feel free from the past...
