Down By the River

I went down to the riverside
Catch myself some dinner
I went down to the riverside
Only caught a minner

I met up with a fat raccoon
I said,"Howdy doody."
He said you're fishin' in my hole
Coon was kinda moody

I went on down around the bend
Bumped into a possum
He said,"Go try there in the shade,
Fishin's mostly awesome."

I threw my line and baited hook
Landed on a gator
He said,"I'll have you for my lunch!"
I said,"See ya later!"

Old Mr Owl watched from the tree
Shook his head in sorrow
Said,"Son,you're gettin' nowhere fast,
You'll starve 'fore tomorrow."

I went down to the riverside
Bought some fried potatoes
I ate 'em with a cheese burger
Filled with ripe tomatoes

If you're down by the riverside
Listen not to critters
They're only there to laugh at you
Lots of hoots and twitters

I went down to the riverside
Catch myself some dinner
I went down to the riverside
Only caught a minner
