Dove

You knew me, and I knew you
We were alone for just a while

For two years we breathed the same
Two years, narrowed to just a file

We slept together and we dreamt
Of a life together, temporary, spent

In public we posed, postured as two
We were so perfect, though we knew

It was just for a time that we clung
As two separate could, breathe from one lung

Now we are two, in every way
I imagine your life, separate, astray

The 22 years I had before your influence
Disappeared with your kiss, fireworks, confluence

Dame su vida, para un vida solamente
Yo quiero su alma, perfectamente

When we at last in reality separated
You flowed on further, I sobbed, forever-rape-ed

Now I sigh and remember when, my dove
We were so simply, above it all. In love.
