We’re taught to pray but yet see not the light It’s said God lives somewhere up in the sky Why eludes us rapture of bliss delight Born into bondage, this life itself a blight Told to follow rules, without asking why We’re taught to pray but yet see not the light Future lives promise us spherical sight Fanciful dreams, for which we need to die Why eludes us rapture of bliss delight Exiting mind games, we give up the fight Vicarious knowledge is a big lie We’re taught to pray but yet see not the light Silence ushers joy, of zenith like height Desires cease, as we bid ego goodbye Why eludes us rapture of bliss delight We see God’s halo within, shining bright Suffused with love divine, we cease to sigh We’re taught to pray but yet see not the light Why eludes us rapture of bliss delight 21-December-2021

Dear Seeker, I will read your profound spiritual poem many times. Love the charming Villanelle form, and many lines in your poem, especially the last two - "We’re taught to pray but yet see not the light Why eludes us rapture of bliss delight". To me, you have chosen the right form which allows repetition of these thought-provoking lines. Love and blessings ~ Mala

Thank you, Mala! Faith shakes when tested, unless there is direct realisation. If the aim of all religions and scriptures is to ‘see’ God face to face, why settle for anything less? Teachings point out the way, then we must let go of the crutch and walk through the door of our heart, ourselves. Are we ready to plunge into the inky black void, becoming twice born?
