Dora and Cheeku
Dora and cheeku
Charming pair of brave dachshunds,
Very possessive and stubborn,
Grew up with my only son,
Envious of my love for him,
Running around was a part of play,
Rolled and giggled the whole day,
Ignored if, they would sit in a corner,
With drooping faces of a mourner,
Day, burglars broke into, was calm,
as thief ran to their wake up alarm,
Took cheeku away along with them,
Dora kept digging garden crying for him,
No foods or feasts could console,
Even the police failed to prove their role,
We died each day with her rising passion,
Loneliness had turned into obsession,
Till she too disappeared the other day,
after turning garden into a heap of clay,
Parting was unbearable to our hearts,
Tears of grief tearing our souls apart,
Comical clowns that once gave us smiles,
Must have found peace or travelled miles,
Memories haunt as those lovely days we recall,
Adorable pets, I still feel them leaning against the wall.
