Doors That Can't Be Opened
I think of gently gliding my fingers across your bare chest
How it would feel just to touch
The shaking of our breath as our lungs try not to work overtime attempting to calm our nerves
I imagine the warmth of your body and the coldness of mine would lie together perfectly
I imagine
It’s the only thing I can do because these are moments in my head
I had these moments reachable once before
But that was another lifetime
Another lifetime, but you’re still the same muse to me you’ve always been
I feel thirteen again
When I first saw you
Like we’re starting all over
Waiting for your name to light up my screen wondering what the message holds
Something silly or something bold
Taking a break from texting you and impatiently wanting you to think of me
And you always do
Assuming I’ve had a busy day because you didn’t hear from me
When the truth is, I wanted you to want it to be my name lighting up your screen every time your phone rang
You think of me
You don’t disappoint
You are forever fascinating and you’ve fascinated my soul
I couldn’t let you go even if I wanted to and believe me, I’ve tried
We share a weakness; each other
But we were always running late
We were late for the love of our lives
The words you say to me leave a mark
The fire will always burn
When we’re constantly making sparks
