Don'T You
How can one just walk away as though they don't exist?
Like they never even mattered and they will not be missed?
As a parent,I find it very hard to understand.
How one day you were able to just let go their hand.
Don't you miss their sweet and silly faces?
Or how they filled the emptiness between all the spaces?
Of dark and lonely places?
Or have you been too damn wasted?
To realize just what it was you lost?
Or that your selfishness came at such a cost?
How is it that you can fall asleep each and every night?
Without these thoughts consuming you?
It doesn't seem quite right.
Don't you ever idly wonder what type of people they turned out to be?
If they act just like you?
Or maybe just like me?
Are you even curious who taught your son to be a man?
Like how to treat a woman or shake somebody's hand?
Don't you want to know,or do you even care?
Just which dress to homecoming your Babygirl will wear?
Or how about the boy that takes her?
Wouldn't you want to meet him just to make sure?
That he won't harm your Princess; you're Darling Baby Daughter?
Don't you ever wonder what it would have been like to be their Father.......?!
