Don't Love You, But I Love You
The first year that I knew you,
you ruled my every thought,
I hungered to be near you,
yhat’s what my passion sought.
Yuo’d text me ever hour,
and I’d always reply,
I think I found my meaning
staring into your eyes.
But now when I look at you
it isn’t quite the same,
we’ve been together ten years,
more calmness in my brain.
Don’t feel the blinding passion,
that I once felt before,
can only say that it has
grown into something more.
I don’t love you, but I love you,
if that makes any sense,
I don’t love you, but I love you,
like most women and men.
I don’t love you, but I love you,
now it’s no longer new,
I don’t love you but I love you,
yes, I do.
My whole mind used to shut down
when you took something off,
now I smile every time
you give our son a toss.
I used to be entranced by
all of your mysteries,
Now we finish sentences,
a tight and winning team.
We used to go to parties,
and tear up the whole town,
now it’s better holding you
when things have settled down.
You used to wear lace panties,
not boy-shorts just like mine,
I’m still gonna take them off,
but not I take my time!
I don’t love you, but I love you,
if that makes any sense,
I don’t love you, but I love you,
like most women and men.
I don’t love you, but I love you,
now it’s no longer new,
I don’t love you but I love you,
yes, I do.
Not a sprint, but more like jogging,
east pace, no strain or slogging,
past the first I now find
that life is better by your side.
I don’t love you, but I love you,
however that may be,
I don’t love you, but I love you,
never more clear to me.
I don’t love you, but I love you,
and I’ll say it again,
I don’t love you, but I’ll love you
to the end.
