Don'T Look Don'T See

Happy Halloween Everyone I don't look down in the cellar especially at night I know there's nothing there at least, to cause me fright But I double check the latch and I sit far from the door 'cause I've heard the strangest things from the cellar times before It is difficult to sleep as I'm twisting in this chair and my eyes now open wide with every creaking of a stair My heart is pounding faster to escape my captive chest as my fear seems over whelming to receive unwanted guess Then the morning light intrudes in the room I call my cell and I think that I am spared for a fate that worse than Hell But people ask me why I stay here as a dweller I simply say--- it's Ok If I don't look in the cellar

Hi Jerry. How are you my friend. I hope all is well. This is a great poem of the unknown and the tricks of the mind. I worked in a very old hospital one time and the cellar had been the morgue many years ago. I'd like to believe that the tales of ghosts didn't bother me. But, whenever I went down there alone late at night I was cautious and quick at what I needed to do. Very well done, my friend.... Robert.

This is great, brings back memories of going to the basement when I was a kid. Boy could I run fast up those stairs.

It's all in the mind yet imagination can create the most frightening scenario...Gave me the chills, Jerry. Reminds me of The Cask of Amontillado. Quite a POEtic exploration you have here. 7 hugs!
