Notes About The Poem

- Don'T Fear, But Cheer -

I value the ability to live independently
Most sacred to me
is the freedom and my health
- every breath of dawn, is like a diamond
I open the window ... just for a little while
- no children are out playing
the sun is shining and the lilies are blooming
Spring sings its first greeting
Nothing is so beautiful
as the first coltsfoot

Our world today ... lockdown and isolation
Freedom has got a bad friend
and its name is: FEAR
Fear of getting sick ...
Infection and illness can hit quite randomly
A good saying goes:
// it's hard to define an elephant,
but, you recognize it when you see it //
This is a time and a reminder about
we are all equally vulnerable
... and mortal

// Dear Father in Heaven,
protect us in battle and sickness
Give us hope when it seems hopeless //
- Don't fear
  ... but cheer
Spring is my happy time
... it tingles in the stomach
- // (not in the throat)
I want my freedom back

Congratulations on your win. I love the little girl with your poem. You had the perfect ending with your, "Dear Father in Heaven," prayer. I guess more people are praying now than ever before. Enjoy your day and win............

Indeed, how precarious and threatening, as inalienable rights are one by one set aside, allowing the entry of persons and things that have no business here. Knowing w who we are and what we stand for inoculates us these travesties: whether human or inhuman. Your poem expresses your higher minded self quite artfully.

You talked about the elephant in the room, so to say without calling it by name. I Love the narration, and you ended it so beautifully. Congratulations on your win, and blessings to you. JC Hawkens

Anne-Lise, I feel less ashamed, less afraid knowing someone is writing the triumph of today in pages that future eyes already know. I only hope and pray they're ours as well. -Richard

True, fear becomes a weapon in the hands of the aggressor therefore, I agree with you that we should cheer. Cheer for life and all those good people who sacrifice themselves for others. A very good writing dearest, Anne-Lise. Hugs xxx
