Don'T

don’t pretend you worry
or even that you care
don’t pretend it matters to you
don’t you ****ing dare

I always want to be your friend
I’ll just be a phone call away
Your sadness I’ll always try to mend
In your sex games I’ll even play

But don’t think I’m oblivious
Don’t think that I don’t notice
This thing that is so obvious
The way we are never us

You expect me to do what you want
You think that I’m in love with you
You’ll never be all of what I want
I’ve gotten over you

I’ve realized things, I’ve noticed things
I can’t make you do the same
You just won’t let go these things
You’re holding on to pain

You’ll measure everyone against him
And if they aren’t the same
You’ll treat them like amusements
Temp'ry and mundane

Maybe you only talk to me
Because I’m always there
Maybe you only look at me
As a genderless place to share

You want to talk, you want to play
Fine I will always listen
But don’t pretend at end of day
This is but what it isn’t

The anger in this poem is raw and honest, but controlled. It's an excellent write in that it shows wonderful insight into the poet's own feelings, as well as the motivations and actions of someone who could have easily fooled him. Relationships grow slowly, though, and this could blossom into something more, if the lovers are honest with each other. Writing is communication, and this communicates well!
