Donkey and Goat

Donkey and Goat

Equus asinus She whispered
whispered with the warmest sigh
from the field that blew softly
with the North wind, by the by

Six years and not one glance
a kind word a casual blink
a lifetime you'd surely agree
to love that donkey one would think

His obstinate and carefree stand
swaggeration of his unkempt tail
the cool way he'd stare for hours
at his gate his fence that rail.

Ohh Capra you beautiful creature
slight delicate cream white coat
inter species loving I know is very wrong
yet you are truly beautiful for a goat

I've looked when you were not
turned my big head, yes turned away
lest you spot the obvious signs
of my sick admiration by the way

I must hide now, my sorrow and my woe
hide that wretched love, that pain
pretend to the world I care not at all
in fact dear Capra, I've cried in this rain
