Dolphin Races

Sitting on deck
Sails in check
The sun falls from the sky
So many colors as the sun says good bye
Rocking upon the waves gently as can be
Watched the sun kiss the sea
Over yonder a dolphin keeps lazy pace
Think more for the company than the race
Hearing the waves break against the bow
Never more alive than I am now
Purples orange red and pink
Opens my soul to the brink
Peace does abide
These waves I ride
Far from the rushing tide
Solitude , lonely , yet so alive
beautifully perfect for what I did strive
Looking for peace of mind
Came all this way Just to find
It was in me all the while
Made me smile
Found what I was seeking
Had to head home now for my boat was leaking
No fear
New hope was here
New peace of mind
Myself was who I did find

Hello William. I found your poem surfing around. It is so peaceful. It would be enjoyable to illustrate with watercolors. The ocean is a great healer. I lived near the Atlantic ocean for years, it was my 'search my soul' place too. Your last 3 lines are my favorite, but your 2 lines about the dolphins are a close second I'm glad to have found your poem. It was lovely.
